MAT credit calculation | Applicability of minimum alternative tax
The minimum alternative must be paid in accordance with the Income tax Act. MAT''s approach was established to address those businesses that make massive gains and distribute dividends to their stockholders, but do not pay/minimum taxes under the ordinary rules of the Income Act, using the various deductions/exemptions permitted by the Act.
The MAT is computed according to 115JB of the Income tax law.
