Installing carpet tiles
Teppichfliesen are one of the most cost-effective ways to replace your floor covering, and also one of the simplest to lay. Carpet flooring looks at first sight like a cheaper replacement for traditional carpet, and that is one of the rolls they do. They do have, however, benefits besides the relatively low price (a simple 50cm x 50cm ceramic floor slab is about $5.25).
As every sqare of the floor covering is unique, you can make geometric designs on request. For this reason, carpet flooring is often used in highly frequented areas such as corridors. At first, the clear step is to take the space measurements so that you can find out how many floor tile you need.
Typically, a floor slab is 50 centimeters by 50 centimeters, which means you need four for every four squares. When your room is 2 meters by 4 meters, you need a floor space of 8 m², i.e. 32 floorboards. When they are not self-adhesive, you should also use some possibilities of liability (see below).
Like with most competitive work, the first task is to prepare your interface. No matter what you do, the goal is to end up with a sleek, tidy finish on which you can lay the tile. When you are out of luck (as I was in our example hallway), you must first take out an old and used carpet.
Here, raising the carpet, taking off the backing and clamps that kept it in place, and then getting the stapled framework that kept the carpet in place out of place was much more work than any other part of the work. There was no need to get away the colour spots on the wood underneath, but I had to make sure there were no clamps or pins.
As with any flooring design, you should layout the tile and make sure it is trimmed before installation. It is especially important when you mix different tile types to make a design. This means that all trimmed or irregularly shaped tile appears at the edges of the room, creating a symmetric effect.
However, you should place one piece after the other until you have completed the area. Except if your room has exact measurements, you will end up having to trim some floor slabs to suit. To make single squares, you can find out where to trim by superimposing the edge of the slab until it matches, marking the area and then cutting.
Raise each individual piece of stone, spread the glue and then fix it again. Higher priced flooring may be self-sticking; in this case take off the piece of tape and glue it on. Once you have placed the floor slabs with care, they will actually stay in place quite well, without being attached in place.
